A fun Math's lesson with our parents on Open Day

|

Ash Wednesday (01/03/17) saw parents coming into class to find out how we learn.  To help us revise our work on perimeters, we played  a game.  We had to throw a die and use the measurement to start to draw a rectangle, square or irregular shape on a piece of squared paper.  Our partner could then block us, or draw their shape anywhere on the paper. to find the winner, we then used a calculator to help to add up all the different perimeters that we had calculated.

As well as revising perimeter, we discovered that it helped:our mental maths addition and doubling skills; developed teamwork and turntaking; made us think about tessellation and tactis! And all just from a piece of paper, dice and 2 different coloured felt-tips.  Amazing!
