As a school we are committed to ensuring that all children, regardless of their needs gets the best possible education in our school, both academic and social. We work to ensure that any child who has any special needs in school is given the best possible support. We have a very high ratio of staff to children and as a result can provide many small group teaching opportunities throughout the day.

If we believe your child is finding any aspect of school difficult we will involve you immediately to share our concerns and to discuss if the difficulties also occur at home and what we can do to support your child. This might mean we involve external support such as educational pyschologists, behaviour specialists or speech and language therapists to provide the support your child needs and we will always involve you in these decisions.

We welcome all children into school, regardless of their special need, however our school is an old building which has some restrictions in terms of access to classrooms which would make wheelchair access very difficult. We suggest that in all instances you come into school as soon as possible to have a look around the school and discuss options with us for your child.

The school's Special Needs Policy is supported by advice and documentation provided by the Lancashire Education Inclusion Service [LEIS].
